SAVING A COVERED BRIDGE
Goodpasture Bridge in Lane County
The Goodpasture Bridge is a beloved historic landmark in Lane County that serves as the only connection across the McKenzie River for many people. As a landmark, key access way, and center for holiday celebrations, the bridge is of special significance to the community. Significant rehabilitation was required on the bridge, with impacts on community members and travelers.
LCA, working on behalf of OBEC Consulting Engineers, took the time for face-to-face communications with the people most affected by this project, including in-person interviews of residents, emergency service providers, and local business owners; LCA also organized a series of small group meetings and an open house. Due to LCA’s sensitive and strategic approach to communications, constituents’ needs were met while still allowing the team to adhere to the project schedule.
