MAX RED LINE EXTENTION AND RELIABILITY IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
TriMet is designing extensions and improvements to its MAX Red Line light-rail system. This project will double the tracks from Gateway Transit Center to Portland International Airport. The project will also extend the Red Line west from Beaverton Transit Center to Fair Complex Station. Additional improvements will include replacing sections of aging track, placing an operator break facility at the Fair Complex/Hillsboro Airport MAX Station, and building an inbound Red Line station at Gateway/Northeast 99th Avenue Transit Center.
Final design of the project will be delivered in 2021 with construction taking place between 2021 and 2023.
LCA served the design team as a liaison between DBE subconsultants and project prime Parametrix. LCA organized and conducted in-person check-in meetings with DBEs throughout the preliminary design phase. LCA’s goal in designing and executing these meetings was as follows:
- Identify areas where DBE firms could benefit from mentorship and logistical support from the prime.
- Establish a trusted point of contact for DBE firms throughout design.
- Provide an environment for DBEs to share project feedback, concerns, and any anticipated problems regarding their scope of work delivery.
These meetings succeeded in facilitating DBE firms in voicing their concerns and receiving the needed guidance and support from Parametrix to execute their scope of work on schedule.
